La tradition luxembourgeoise de la "fête des brandons" est bien vivante au Luxembourg comme le montrent les très nombreux "feux de joies" allumés au cours des deux dernières nuit à l'échelle du Luxembourg. L'un des plus grands Buergbrennen du pays a eu lieu dimanche dans la commune de Niederanven.
Traditionnellement, le Buergbrennen a lieu lors du "Buergsonndeg" (dimanche des flambeaux). Cependant, de nos jours, les clubs locaux ont tendance à les organiser aussi le samedi, voire même le vendredi. Un mois avant la fin officielle de l'hiver (le 19 mars), le Luxembourg a vécu dimanche son "Buergbrennen", une tradition qui vise à "brûler" l'hiver.
